For the holy Church of God throughout the world: may she announce courageously the gospel of salvation and witness joyfully to Christ crucified and risen, who gave his life for love of the world.
For our Holy Father Francis: sustained by our prayer in his ministry the service of unity and mercy, confirmed us in faith, refreshed in hope and inflamed with charity towards God and God’s people.
For the Society of Jesus, sent to the four corners of the earth: rooted in the context of the contemporary Church and world, may it live with renewed commitment and missionary zeal, so that, faithful to its charism, it can seek the greater good of souls.
For the Superior General Arturo Sosa: may the Lord who has chosen him to guide the Society strengthen him with grace, energy and wisdom, so that this apostolic body ad dispersionem can respond to the new challenges of our time, while remaining always faithful to the Gospel, to the Church, and to every human person.
For those called to govern nations: overcoming partisan interests, may they commit themselves courageously to seek the common good in true freedom and peace, so that humanity’s hope for dignity, for justice, and for life may be realized in authentic social progress.
For those who live in poverty, for those sick in body and spirit, for the marginalized and for the elderly who live in lonely circumstances: may their cry of suffering not go unheard because of our indifference, but be met instead with fraternal concern and assistance, so that, embraced as neighbours they never feel themselves abandoned in their moment of need.
For all of us united here around the Lord’s altar: may this Eucharist that we celebrate at the end of the General Congregation sustain us for our journey, so that united in one body by the Holy Spirit we may become a living offering in Christ for the greater praise and glory of God.
O FATHER OF INFINITE GOODNESS, you always hear the voice of your children; receive our humble thanks at the end of our General Congregation. Strengthened in unity, may all members of the Society work with renewed trust for the building up of your Kingdom.
Through Christ our Lord. R. Amen.
