After doing this for several days, we were divided by different ideas and opinions concerning our state of life. There was unity of mind and purpose: to seek the gracious and perfect will of God according to the scope of our vocation; but there were various opinions concerning the more effective and more successful means, both for ourselves and for our fellowmen. (&#8230;) Finally, we decided affirmatively, namely, that since the most kind and loving Lord had deigned to unite us to one another and to bring us together \u2013 weak men and from such different places and cultures \u2013 we should not sever God\u2019s union and his bringing us together, but rather everyday we should strengthen and more solidly ground it, forming ourselves into one body\u201d. Deliberation of the First Fathers<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>We, trusting that he will give us the grace necessary to fulfill this vocation, commit ourselves anew to following the promptings of the Holy Spirit, so that we may seek diligently the will of God, and discern well and freely that which is before us, so that our whole life and everything we do, both individually and corporately, may correspond to our call. Trusting in God\u2019s assistance, we renew our plea for the gift of discernment, so that we may choose what is best, what is in accord with the greatest love, and what will bring Our Lord the greatest glory.
