Nicol\u00e1s qui a dirig\u00e9 les destin\u00e9es de la Compagnie de J\u00e9sus au cours des huit derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es. Notre bulletin a rendu compte, mardi dernier, de ce moment important de la Congr\u00e9gation.<br \/>\nMais le P. Lombardi est un homme connu et reconnu, non seulement par ses confr\u00e8res j\u00e9suites mais dans le monde des m\u00e9dias religieux au niveau international. Depuis 25 ans, le j\u00e9suite a \u00e9t\u00e9 une pr\u00e9sence majeure \u00e0 la direction de Radio Vatican et, depuis une dizaine d\u2019ann\u00e9es, il \u00e9tait aussi le porte-parole du Vatican, directeur du bureau de presse. Le 31 juillet dernier, il a quitt\u00e9 ces responsabilit\u00e9s. Son ancien employeur, le Vatican, n\u2019a pourtant pas mis de temps \u00e0 lui proposer un autre engagement. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 nomm\u00e9 pr\u00e9sident de la<em> Fondation Joseph Ratzinger \u2013 Benedetto XVI<\/em>. Cette \u0153uvre est d\u00e9di\u00e9e au soutien de la recherche th\u00e9ologique. Elle le fait principalement de trois mani\u00e8res\u00a0: en offrant des bourses d\u2019\u00e9tudes doctorales pour des travaux de pointe dans le domaine th\u00e9ologique, en octroyant des prix annuels pour l\u2019ensemble de l\u2019\u0153uvre de certains th\u00e9ologiens contemporains, en organisant un symposium annuel. Les ressources financi\u00e8res de la fondation proviennent des droits d\u2019auteur de la vente des ouvrages du th\u00e9ologien, aussi bien avant qu\u2019apr\u00e8s son \u00e9lection comme pape.<br \/>\nPourquoi le p\u00e8re Lombardi a-t-il \u00e9t\u00e9 choisi pour pr\u00e9sider cette fondation? C\u2019est qu\u2019il a connu de tr\u00e8s pr\u00e8s le cardinal Ratzinger. Quotidiennement, il a travaill\u00e9 avec lui durant sept ann\u00e9es du pontificat du cardinal, devenu le pape Benoit XVI. Il a appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 son travail dans le domaine th\u00e9ologique et il est heureux de pouvoir appuyer la poursuite de l\u2019engagement de l\u2019ancien pape. Par ailleurs, le j\u00e9suite italien reconna\u00eet que la pr\u00e9sidence de la Fondation Ratzinger n\u2019est pas une activit\u00e9 \u00e0 temps plein.
